Rules of Entry

Eligibility

The Claims Excellence Awards are open to any claims department or section within an FCA-authorised insurer, Lloyd’s syndicate, broker with significant delegated claims authority, public authority claims department or self-insured corporate operating in the UK general insurance market. All categories are open to those from both operations and technical areas. In addition, certain categories are also open to MGAs, service providers, loss adjusters, industry partners and law firms.

Some categories are open to individuals, while others are aimed at departments or teams. Please make sure you read through the category entry criteria carefully to ensure that you are entering the most appropriate one.

You may enter more than one project, programme, team or individual into a category, but ensure your written submissions clearly specify who or which part of the company is being entered.

If you are submitting an entry on behalf of a client (for example, if you’re a PR agency), please include the client’s contact details as a cc on the online entry form. This will ensure that all communications regarding the awards and the judging processes reach the relevant parties promptly. We do not accept responsibility for non-receipt of any emails relating to entries submitted.

Written Submission (Stage One)

The first stage of judging will be based on your written submission and any supporting materials you choose to include.

To maximise your chances of success, ensure your entry is well presented, concise and clearly written, answering all the questions. Highlight what makes your work unique or outstanding and use metrics and data to demonstrate impact and success. The judges will expect to see evidence of why your project/initiative/solution deserves an award. Make sure you keep within the word count specified.

For ‘of the year’ categories, judges will focus on recent achievements. Therefore, entries should include evidence of accomplishments between 1st January 2025 and 28th February 2026. While the project/initiative/solution itself does not need to be ‘new’ or ‘recent’, the achievements and impact described must fall within these dates.

All information marked as confidential will remain so and will not be disclosed without the entrant’s permission.

Entries must be submitted via the official online entry system. Supplementary information including charts, graphs, photos and info-boxes should be uploaded as supporting documents and NOT included on the entry form.

Supporting Material

When preparing your background materials and supporting evidence, focus on quality and relevance, not quantity. You may include up to three supporting documents with each written submission.

Relevant items such as case studies, research documents, staff newsletters etc. can help demonstrate impact in a clear and practical way. Include these where appropriate.

The judges may also review relevant websites or videos, so please provide the full URL and any necessary access codes. Please make sure that any links remain valid through to the end of the stage 2 judging process (Thursday 23rd April 2026).

Avoid adding unnecessary or irrelevant documents as this can weaken your submission.

Presentation to the Judging Panel (Stage Two)

If your entry is shortlisted, you (or a representative/s from your company) will be invited to deliver a virtual presentation to our judging panel on either Wednesday 22nd or Thursday 23rd April. Please note that if you are shortlisted in multiple categories, you may be required to present on both days.

Further details regarding the platform, timings and presentation requirements will be provided after the finalists are announced on Thursday 26th March.

Please be aware that if you are unavailable or choose not to participate in the online presentation, your entry may be withdrawn and you may not be considered for the final award. Please note: We cannot offer any alternative dates, times or platforms for judging.
